About The Ivy Legacy Foundation
Our Legacy
The Ivy Legacy Foundation (TILF) provides support and enrichment programs to the underserved populations of the Greater Philadelphia area. Through community outreach and fundraising efforts, TILF enthusiastically seeks to improve the conditions of the community that it serves.
Our Mission
The Ivy Legacy Foundation is a charitable entity committed to making an educational and cultural difference in the Greater Philadelphia Community.
Our Goals
- Create a perpetual endowment from which to fund its scholarship awards and grants to community organizations which will address the needs of the community by promoting volunteerism, civic responsibility, and enhanced educational opportunities
- Establish a legacy of dedicated service
- Build partnerships with individuals and organizations whose goals and objectives complement our mission
Our History
The Ivy Legacy Foundation was founded in 1995 by members of the Rho Theta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. The foundation was created, primarily, to raise money to award academic scholarships to deserving students. Scholarship recipients represent graduating high school seniors as well as non-traditional students pursuing higher education. In response to pressing community needs, the Foundation expanded its reach to support additional causes and other worthwhile community organizations and programs in the greater Philadelphia community with grant money. The foundation was granted 501(c)(3) status by the IRS in 1996.
Our Logo
In November 2004, The Ivy Legacy Foundation launched a new brand identity complete with a new logo and organization tagline. The logo depicts two facing silhouette figurines in support of one another coming together to form an Ivy leaf. At the center is a heart, showing our commitment to caring. The tagline supports the foundation with three definitive statements: “Invest. Empower. Embrace." |
